What. A. Day.

What a day it's been.

I spent yesterday looking at friends blogs and their friends blogs and their friends blogs.

I wanted to get some ideas for decorating for Halloween since Halloween isn't really my favorite holiday. I found some of the cutest ideas and I am so happy with the way that some of them turned out.

We started off the day carving and decorating pumpkins. Adam is still deciding on what he wants to carve!

Our monogrammed pumpkins!

Grocery Game

I've heard people talk about the "Grocery Game" before, but never really had the patience to start playing. Basically the way it works is each week they produce a list of everything that is on sale at your local grocery store, in my case Kroger. I also get a list for CVS and Walgreens. The list tells you what is on sale, what coupons you should have and the total percent off. Alot of times items are FREE or very little. Today I went to Kroger and my total before coupons/sales was $97.75 and I saved $54.66. I only paid $43.09 for a TON of stuff!! Here is the website incase you want to check it out: grocerygame.com. Good Luck!

Dynamo Game

We went to a Dyname game a few weeks ago when Adam's parents were in town. It was such a nice night to sit outside and watch the game. Would have been better if they won!

My Summer Project

This has been my summer project. We couldn't deal with the bright school bus rubber ducky yellow anymore so we repainted. I got the idea of the headboard from a show on HGTV. It was pretty easy to make, the hardest part was hanging it up! Here is the semi-finished project!

My "headboard"!

I changed the knobs.

Citrus Shrimp Tacos

Adam and I are trying to limit the number of times we eat out each week to 1-2 times. Since I am not working right now, I have been trying out new recipes. I made this last week and it was amazing.

I was in HEB shopping and this is what they were making for samples. It was one of their specials that if you bought the Shrimp and Olive Oil, you got all of the other ingredients for free. Not a bad deal, huh? I am going to include the recipe because right now it's on a little slip of paper that either I will loose or Brodie will eat....probably the later.

  • 1 -2 pounds of shrimp

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 2 tbsp Adam's Reserve Rub

  • 1 bag of Angel Hair Coleslaw

  • Fresh Mango Pico de Gallo

  • 1/3 c Cookwell & Fin Citrus Marinade

  • 1/3 c Mayo

  • Tortillas

  1. Combine Olive Oil and Adams Rub in a Ziplock Bag - add shrimp. Let marinade for 10 minutes (I marinaded for about an hour).

  2. Combine Pico, Marinade, Mayo. Mix it up. Then add the coleslaw. Mix it up.

  3. Cook shrimp until done.

  4. Serve up with Tortillas and enjoy!

We did it!

After 3 months of waiting, we finally closed on our first rental house! It is a 4 bedroom/2.5 bath home located really close to downtown. There were a few minor things that we've had to do to get it ready, but we are almost there. We had it landscaped this morning which was huge. We wouldn't have even known where to start with the weeds. It was bad. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will get a reliable and caring tenant and make this first rental house a good experience for us.
